Hi Taura,
I’ve used it for two main projects so far. First is a fingering weight shawl and it worked very nicely with the one cake holder option. Second, it has been the yarn minder for a worsted shawl I have been designing, which uses five colours. I figured trying it out with a heavy yarn would give me a good feel for how it works, and it did superbly! I’m really impressed with how handy it is, and how sturdy. With some cake holders there is the issue of resistance, and this minder of course has none. It’s very easy to pull the yarn off whether it’s a small amount or a large amount. The minder doesn’t skid across the table which surprised me as I thought it might with a heavier yarn. The cakes unwind smoothly, and here’s a nifty selling point: the minder prevented one cake that desperately wanted to yarn barf from doing so. That’s an unexpected but very welcome benefit. It’s easy to switch cakes on the stand, which is nice too, although of course I fairly quickly came to realize I want the capacity for four if I have a project with lot of colour changes.
For those with cats there is good news too. I sort of expected them to take one look and decide it is a toy made for them but that didn’t happen. They left the minder alone and it did reduce the issue I have of them stealing balls of yarn. I love it!
I should also mention I found it easy to transport back and forth to the studio with my project. It is highly portable.
So, to sum it up, it really is a brilliant stand, goes everywhere with you, doesn’t lure in pets, and works very well indeed!
Best regards,

These stands aren’t just for knitters! As a crocheter I’ve used the two arm holder for multi coloured pieces and it is perfect for my cakes yarn! Plus it folds down perfectly for easy storage. Perfection!"

Dear Taura,
My apologies, I am not sure what others call that wonderful tool you and Justin have invented, but in my house it's a yarn dangler - because it dangles my yarn, of course. My daughter told me for months that it was a wonderous thing and made knitting with multiple skeins far easier, but I am frugal and resisted until I watched all the crocheters and knitters around me at the last Crochet Retreat and gosh... I ran to your booth and happily purchased a set that holds two balls at once. When I work with 1 colour, I put the next ball on the spare dangler. When I am working with two colours... WOW! The yarn doesn't get wrapped around itself, and the time saved is amazing. I get to focus on what I love most, the creating part. Although I have to say, detangling a snarl at two in the morning because one must finish one more row - well - perhaps I will miss that? I can't wait to try toe-up-two-at-a-time socks.
Thanks for the dandy tool.
Yours,
Sheryl Bowie
